Tangier to celebrate the International Festival of Ibn Battuta on November 2017
The Moroccan Association of Ibn Battuta is organizing an international festival to commemorate the renowned traveler, Ibn Battuta on November 9-12, 2017 in the city of Tangier. The second international festival is dedicated to the life of the great Moroccan explorer. Tangier is the chosen venue for the festival as it is where Ibn Battuta was born. Tangier is a key conurbation located northwestern Morocco and is considered as a port on the Gibraltar Channel as it serves as the access or entryway between the continents of Europe and Africa.
Tangier is the first city of the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, along with the prefecture of Tangier-Assilah in Morocco. Ibn Battuta established his name in the world history and became a pride of the Moroccans when he traveled the world with the objective of discovering and learning different cultures in the countries he had reached and bringing camaraderie and sense of accord to the said countries. Due to the information and stories he had contributed to the history of Morocco, the AMARIB would like to dedicate the second International Festival of Ibn Battuta to the travelers who also share the same aspiration with Ibn Battuta. The festival promotes the theme “Travelers, Ambassadors of Peace.” According to the organizer, the festival has set the bar higher for the second edition as many international delegations are invited to attend the festival. According to Mohamed Dekkak, the Honorary President of the Association, the team is already in the process of looking for dedicated and keen partners, sponsors, participants, and volunteers whose contributions are necessary to make the event a success. He is cordially inviting everyone to join in the celebration as they will be showing a better version of the festival.
The international festival of Ibn Battuta will help the city of Tangier to draw more people locally and internationally and show them the rich history of the city.
